The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi women's basketball team will look to close out its nearly week-long road trip with a win on Saturday afternoon. They will play the Northwestern State Lady Demons at 2 p.m. in Natchitoches, La. at the Prather Coliseum.
The Islanders came up just short in their last game, dropping a 77-74 decision after rallying from 24 down, but they were not quite able to complete the dramatic comeback. The team is now 2-19 on the season and is 0-8 in Southland Conference games. The Lady Demons are 9-12 on the year with an even 4-4 record in league contests.
The last time these two teams met, Texas A&M - Corpus Christi picked up the win to advance in the Southland Conference Tournament, taking a 74-66 final to move on to face Lamar in the championship game. During the regular season, the Islanders won by a nearly identical score, taking a 75-66 final in Natchitoches.
Texas A&M - Corpus Christi's Adrienne Scott comes into the game averaging 13.8 points per game to lead the team, including 15.8 per game in Southland play. She is also second on the team in rebounding with a 7.8 per game average, just behind Anitra Jeffery and her 8.0 rebounds per game. Jessica Jammer is second on the team in scoring with 8.0 points per game while Jeffery is right behind her in third at 7.9 per contest.
NSU comes into the game with Jordan James leading the way at 12.5 points per game overall and 16.9 in Southland contests. Trudy Armstead and Brittiany Houston are tied for second on the team at 10.5 points a night. Jasmine Bradley leads the team in rebounding at 5.8 a night while Armstead is second at 5.4 per game.
