Islanders host Stephen F. Austin in Southland matchup

The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi women's basketball team will be back at the American Bank Center for the first time since January 5th when they play host to Stephen F. Austin on Saturday afternoon. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. tipoff on Stripes Court.

The Islanders are 2-17 on the season and still looking for the first conference win after starting 0-6 in league play. The Ladyjacks are 6-12 on the season, with a 3-2 Southland record after winning back-to-back league games over UT Arlington and Sam Houston.

The team is trying to recover from a heartbreaking 78-76 overtime loss to Texas State on Wednesday night. Adrienne Scott scored a career-high 23 points while Anitra Jeffery added 18 points and 18 rebounds as the duo led the effort.

Scott is leading the team in scoring at 13.5 points per game and is second on the team in rebounding with 7.9 boards per game. Jeffery is second in scoring at 7.9 points per game while leading the team with 8.0 rebounds a night. Jeffery ranks sixth and Scott is seventh in the conference for rebounds per game.

Stephen F. Austin is led by Tammara Marion, who is scoring 16.4 points per game for the Ladyjacks. She ranks second in the league in scoring behind Megan Herbert of Central Arkansas. Decreasha Goodner is leading the team in rebounds with 5.5 per contest.
