Following a break for the Holidays, the Texas A&M - Corpus Christi women's basketball team will hit the court once again on Tuesday, Dec. 28 against North Dakota at 6 p.m. in the Lady Griz Holiday Classic. The team will play North Dakota Fighting Sioux on Tuesday and follow it up with a 6 p.m. game on Wednesday against the Utah Valley Wolverines in Missoula, Mont. for the final games before the New Year.
The Islanders come into the game with a record of 0-10 and are searching for their first victory of the season after dropping a pair of games against Robert Morris and Alabama State last week at the Gator Holiday Classic. The Fighting Sioux are 1-8 on the season while the Wolverines are 1-10 on the year.
It will be the first meeting between Texas A&M - Corpus Christi against North Dakota while they are 2-1 all-time against Utah Valley. The last meeting between the two teams produced a 91-78 Wolverines win in Orem, Utah during the 2005-06 season.
Leading the Islanders into the game will be Lauren Smith with her 12.6 points per game average. Adrienne Scott follows her in second at 10.5 ppg and is also second in rebounding with a 6.0 per game average. Anitra Jeffery leads the team on the boards with an 8.1 average each time out.
UND is led in scoring by Allyssa Wall at 10.7 points per game. She is the only Fighting Sioux player in double digits as the second-leading scorer is Mallory Youngblut at 8.6 a contest. Wall is also the leading rebounder on the team at 4.8 rebounds per game.
