The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team will take on the Washington Huskies out of the Pac 10 Conference in the second round of the WBI in the third home game this year at the Dugan Wellness Center at 4 PM. The Islanders are 2-0 in the building this season, beating Incarnate Word by a 62-51 score and downing UTSA by a 52-48 final in a Southland Conference game.

Overall, TAMUCC is 23-10 on the season and will be looking to set a new Islander record for wins in a season when they go up against the Huskies. The 2004-05 team went 23-7 on their way to a second round appearance in the WNIT. Washington comes into the game with a record of 13-17 on the year.

In the first round of the WBI, the Islanders downed Cal State-Bakersfield by a 97-89 final in overtime while UW beat Portland by a 75-44 final with teams hosting their opening round games.

This will mark the first time in school history that the women have hosted a second round postseason game. They have previously hosted two first round games, one for the WNIT in 2005 and one this past Wednesday against Cal State Bakersfield in the opening round of the WBI. The Islanders won both games and are 2-0 in home games during their postseason history.

Jade Davis scored 30 points in the opening round game against CSUB and continues to lead the team in scoring at 15.2 points per game. Adrienne Scott is scoring 10.4 per game as the only other Islander in double digits. Elisa Beagle is close behind at 9.2 per game while leading the team in rebounding with 8.7 a game. Deziree Green grabs 7.1 a contest and Scott averages 6.0 per game. As a team, TAMUCC averages 70.1 points and 46.0 rebounds per game while their opponents average 66.8 points and 37.5 rebounds per game.

Sami Whitcomb leads the Huskies in scoring with 13.3 points per game. She is the only player in double digits as the next highest total is Kristi Kingma at 9.3 per game. Whitcomb also leads the team in rebounding at 5.7 per game. As a team, they average 60.7 points per game and 35.0 rebounds per game. Washington opponents are averaging 63.2 points and 36.6 rebounds per game to outpace the Huskies in both categories.
