The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team will be facing off against the Sam Houston State Bearkats for the third time this season when the two teams meet on Tuesday in the Southland Conference Tournament. Tip-off is set for 2:30 PM at the Leonard W. Merrell Center in Katy.

The Islanders come into the game with a 20-9 record following their 65-57 defeat of UT Arlington on Saturday to reach the 20-win plateau for just the second time in school history. The win also gave the Islanders a 12-4 record in the Southland this season, a new record for conference wins in a season.

The Bearkats come into the matchup with a 11-17 record on the year after finishing the season with an 92-89 win in three overtimes against Texas State. SHSU finished the regular season with a 8-8 Southland record.

In the first meeting between the two teams this year, the Islanders needed overtime before they were able to overcome the aggressive offense of the Bearkats, winning a 76-69 game behind 18 points from Jade Davis and a career-high 17 points from Lauren Smith. Deziree Green also grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds in the game.

In game two of the year, Elisa Beagle hit a shot with 10 second left to give TAMUCC an 81-80 victory over SHSU. The basket from just outside of the free throw line was the 1,000th-career point of Beagle's career. Beagle was one of five Islanders to score more than 10 points when she finished with 16 on the day. Shaye Montgomery, Myeisha Myles, Adrienne Scott and Davis also scored in double digits for TAMUCC.

Steven King will call the game on KSIX 1230 AM as the Islanders look to continue on to the second round of the tournament in 3-of-4 years in the Southland. Live stats and streaming will be available by visiting
