The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team will be looking to close out the regular season with a win at 1 PM on Saturday in Arlington where they travel to play the UT Arlington Lady Mavs before the Southland Tournament starting next Tuesday. The Islanders are also hoping to win a share of the Southland title if they win while Lamar and Stephen F. Austin lose.

The Islanders come into the matchup with a 19-9 record overall and 11-4 Southland record. A win would give the Islanders just their second 20-win season in school history while they already have the most Southland wins in school history. The Lady Mavs are 14-14 this season and 9-6 in Southland games.

In their last game, TAMUCC controlled from start to finish in taking a 15-point win over league-leading Lamar. The Islanders avenged an early-season 69-63 loss and kept themselves in contention for a potential three-way tie for the Southland title. Senior Elisa Beagle scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season. Jade Davis led all scorers with 23 points.

Davis comes into the final game of the season with the team scoring title locked up at 14.6 points per game. The next-highest scorer is Adrienne Scott at 10.3 points a contest. Beagle leads the team in rebounding with an 8.4 per game average.

Meghan Nelson leads UTA in scoring at 18.2 points per game while Tamara Simmons and Shalyn Martin also average double digits in scoring at 13.4 per game and 12.7 per game respectively. Martin also leads the team in rebounding at 8.5 a contest.

Yannis Koutroupis will call the finale for the Islanders as they continue the march to the Southland Conference Tournament. Live stats will be available by visiting www.UTAMavs.com.
