Thibodaux, La. - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team was upset by Nicholls in a shocking 61-58 road loss on Saturday afternoon. The Colonels pulled off the improbable win for its first Southland Conference victory of the season.

TAMUCC moves to 14-7 overall and 6-2 in Southland play. The Colonels improved to 4-17 on the season, 1-8 in Southland contests.

Deziree Green led the Islanders with 16 points in the game while Jade Davis added 10 as the only other player in double-digits for TAMUCC. In stark contrast, the Colonels ended up with five players scoring 10-plus points, led by Ricshanda Bickham and Jasmine Hoskins with 12 apiece.

The Colonels also accomplished the rare feat of out-rebounding the Islanders by a 43-38 margin, including 18-9 on the offensive glass. It was just the fifth time all season a team has bettered TAMUCC on the boards.

The Islanders have to move past the loss quickly as they get ready to play on the road once again on Wednesday when they travel to San Marcos to take on Texas State. Game time is set for 7 PM at Strahan Coliseum.
