The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team will be traveling to Beaumont for a showdown against the Lamar Lady Cardinals with both teams being unbeaten in the Southland Conference. The game is set for a 7 PM start at the Montagne Center.
The Islanders come into the game with an overall record of 11-5 on the season and 3-0 in Southland games. The Lady Cardinals are 13-4 on the season and 3-0 in the Southland. The last meeting between the teams resulted in a 71-55 win for TAMUCC while the overall series is 7-3 in favor of the Islanders with the teams winning on each other's home courts in the regular season.
TAMUCC is coming off of a 75-66 win over Northwestern State in Natchitoches, La. this past Saturday. Lamar had a come-from-behind win against McNeese State in Lake Charles, La. where they were behind by as many as 15 points before taking a 68-65 victory.
Jade Davis, who was recently named the Southland Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season, leads the Islanders into the game averaging 13.2 points per game. Adrienne Scott is second on the team with 12.4 per game while Shaye Montgomery rounds out a trio of double-digit scorers at 10.2 per game. Elisa Beagle leads the team with 8.9 rebounds per game.
Jenna Plumley leads Lamar at 14.0 points per game and is joined by Kalis Loyd at 12.5 points per game as the only double-digit scorers for the Lady Cardinals. Trashanna Smith leads Lamar with 8.5 rebounds per game.
