The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team will be hitting the road for its first Southland Conference game away from home this season when they travel to Natchitoches, La. for a game against Northwestern State. The Islanders and Lady Demons will meet for a 2 PM tip-off at Prather Coliseum.
Both teams enter the game unblemished in Southland games with TAMUCC going 10-5, 2-0 in Southland play while NWLA sits at 9-6 overall and 2-0 in the SLC. The Islanders have beaten Central Arkansas and Texas State while the Lady Demons downed Nicholls and Southeastern Louisiana. They have done their damage on the road and will be hosting their first Southland home game of the season while TAMUCC has won both of their games at the American Bank Center.
Jade Davis comes into the game off of a second 30-point performance this season that led the Islanders to a 78-72 win over Texas State. Elisa Beagle and Adrienne Scott also were significant contributors by recording double-doubles. Beagle had 14 points and 12 rebounds while Scott had 15 points and 11 boards. It was the first time that TAMUCC had beaten Texas State in the regular season since joining the Southland Conference before the 2006-07 season.
Davis continues to lead the Islanders in scoring, averaging 13.3 points per game while Scott comes in just behind her at 12.1 ppg. Beagle averages 10.2 ppg and Montgomery rounds out the double-digit scorers with 10.1 per game. Beagle leads the team in rebounding at 9.1 per game.
Northwestern State has three players scoring in double-digits, led by Brittany Houston at 11.7 points per game. Jessica McPhail is second with 10.6 ppg and Brooke Shepherd rounds out the trio at 10.0 per game. Sherrion Thomas leads the Lady Demons with 7.1 rebounds per game.
