The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team will head to Colorado Springs, Colo. this weekend to take part in the Air Force Classic on Dec. 4-5 against Drake and Chicago State. The tournament will be taking place at the Clune Arena on the Air Force Academy campus.

The Islanders are now 4-1 on the season after a loss to No. 13 Georgia and a win over Jackson State in the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic last weekend in Hattiesburg, Miss. on the campus of Southern Miss. Drake comes in the game with a record of 3-2, including a win over then No. 24 Iowa State earlier in the season.

"Drake is a solid program, they are smart and fundamental," said head coach Robert Robinson. "They are very disciplined and run their offense well.

"We are going to have to work hard on the defensive end."

Chicago State currently has a record of 3-5 and will play the host team Air Force on the first day of the tournament before meeting up with the Islanders on Saturday afternoon.

"We haven't seen much of them yet but they are very athletic, kind of similar to us," said Robinson. "Seeing what we've seen of them so far, we think we match up with them well and should be able to do some damage in the post against them."

Jade Davis currently leads the Islanders in scoring with 13.8 points per game. Adrienne Scott is second on the team with a 12.8 per game average while leading the team in rebounding at 8.2 per game. Senior Elisa Beagle rounds out a trio of players averaging double digits with a 10.8 scoring average.

"If we come committed and get it done on the defensive end, we have a chance to win both games," said Robinson. "The key is us, if we do the things we can do well, it helps our chances against both teams."

The game against Drake will take place at 8:30 PM Central Standard Time on Friday evening while the Chicago State contest will be played at 3:00 PM CST on Saturday.
