The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team will get back into Southland Conference action Saturday night as they take on Sam Houston State in a 7 PM matchup at the American Bank Center.
The Islanders come into the game off a midweek win against Texas-Pan American. The Islanders took a 54-35 decision in that game, holding the Lady Broncs to a just 15 points in the second half of that game, tying the Islander record for fewest points allowed in the second half of a game.
The win brought the Islanders record to 7-11 on the season, while they remain 2-3 in SLC action.
The Bearkats are 6-12 on the season and 3-2 in SLC games. They are coming off a 90-77 win over Lamar on Wed.
The Islanders lead the all-time series by a 7-1 margin, with TAMUCC winning the last meeting by a 67-61 margin last season in Huntsville.
The Islanders are led in scoring by Jade Davis with a 12.3 scoring average. Myeisha Myles adds 10.4 points per game for the Islanders while leading the team in rebounding with a 7.3 per game average.
Britni Martin leads the Bearkats with a 9.5 scoring average. Whitney Smith is the second-leading scorer at 9.3 per game while leading in rebounding with a 6.5 per game average.
