ISLANDERS OPEN SOUTHLAND PLAY AT CENTRAL ARKANSAS

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team is set to open it's Southland Conference schedule this Saturday in Conway, Ark. on the campus of Central Arkansas.

The Islanders come into the game with a record of 4-8 on the year while the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears carry a 4-9 mark into the contest.

The Islanders are coming off of a loss in the championship game of the Georgia State Invitational. TAMUCC fell by a 69-57 score to host team Georgia State after beating Rhode Island to advance to the game. The Islanders beat the Rams by a 75-67 score on the first day of the tournament.

Central Arkansas last played against #22 Kansas State on Jan. 3, falling by an 81-38 score.

The Islanders come into the game led by Jade Davis. The sophomore is averaging 12.5 points per game and has been the leading scorer for the Islanders in seven consecutive games and in nine out of 12 games overall. Davis is the eighth-leading scorer in the SLC.

Myeisha Myles leads the Islanders with an average of 7.3 rebounds per game while averaging 9.5 points per game as the second-leading scorer. Her 7.3 rebounding average is also eight-best in the SLC.

Destinee Rogers leads the Sugar Bears, scoring 9.8 per game while Mariesha Piggee leads the team with 4.5 rebounds per game.
