The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team opens its home schedule of games tonight against Texas Southern.

The Islanders come into the game with a 0-1 record while Texas Southern is 1-0 on the season.

The game is set for a 7 p.m. tip-off and will give Islander fans their first glimpse of the 2008-09 edition of the women's basketball team.

The Islanders hold a 2-0 series advantage over the Lady Tigers, having last faced each other during the 2004-05 season.

The Islanders return home after a season opening loss at the hands of #12 Vanderbilt. The Islanders held close early on before eventually falling by an 85-51 score this past Friday, Nov. 14.

Jade Davis led the Islanders with 16 points in the contest and will get the start tonight for TAMUCC. Davis will be starting along with Shaye Montgomery and Deziree Green at the guard spots, while Adrienne Scott will start at forward and Sarah Davidson will start at center.

Texas Southern beat Louisiana-Lafayette by a 51-39 score on the same night for their first win of the season.

After the home opener against Texas Southern, the Islanders take to the road to face #13 Texas on Thursday night in Austin. The Islanders then return home next Monday, Nov. 24 to take on North Texas in their final home game of the calendar year.
