Briana Bishop is in her second season as an assistant coach for the Islanders' softball program. 

Bishop, a native of College Station, Texas, comes to Texas A&M - Corpus Christi after spending two years as a graduate student manager for the Texas A&M softball program. Prior to that, she was a four-year letterwinner under former All-American Gay McNutt and coach Craig Snider at Stephen F. Austin. 

At SFA, Bishop garnered several academic and athletic awards on and off the field. She was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll every semester, including the President’s List in the fall and spring of 2010. In addition, she was named to the Dean’s List in the fall of 2006, 2007 and 2008 and the spring of 2009. In her final two years with the Jacks, she was named First Team Southland All-Academic. 

During her junior campaign she set a new SFA home run record for a single-season with 12 and also holds the school’s career mark with 25. Bishop went on to break two more records for doubles and RBIs during her senior year. Bishop was named SFA’s Scholar Athlete of the Year in addition to Female Athlete of the Year and earned First Team All-Conference accolades her junior and senior year.  

In her time with the Aggies, Bishop assisted with hitting and fielding drills, while learning different techniques for each skill under head coach Jo Evans. In addition, she helped with hitting charts during every game and observed ways to manage a collegiate team and different camps under Evans’ guidance. At Texas A&M, Bishop also worked as a camp counselor and coach, instructing skill techniques to the campers, along with teaching situation drills during scrimmages.   

As a student-athlete, Bishop assisted with SFA softball camps twice a year, gaining valuable experience and knowledge. She created different drills to improve the skills of her campers along with assisting with decision making and time management skills.  

Bishop received her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from SFA in May 2010 and earned her master’s in sports management at Texas A&M.
