CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi softball team signed Ashleigh Perez (Bryan, Texas/Bryan HS) to the 2014 signing class, Head Coach Stephanie Hughes announced today.
"We are very excited to add Ashleigh to our 2014 recruiting class," Hughes said. "She will help boost our infield for the next four years and brings a quality bat to our lineup. We are happy to have a student-athlete of her caliber in our Islanders softball family."
Perez, a right-handed infielder from Bryan, Texas, spent three years at Rudder High School before transferring to Bryan High School to play under head coach Enrique Luna. As a senior, she recorded a .329 batting average, while registering 27 hits, 14 runs and 28 RBI. Reason for signing with Texas A&M - Corpus Christi: "On my first visit with Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, I felt like I could get my education and still play the game that I enjoy playing. The coaches and the atmosphere were just right and I felt like I could start the next level of my education and the beginning of playing at the collegiate level."
