Islanders Softball Opens First Week of Practices

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi softball team started official practices on Wednesday at Chapman Field. The Islanders, who only lost one to graduation last season return 12 letterwinners from a year ago and welcome seven newcomers along with the addition of Assistant Coach Keith Stein.   

The team opens the season with a challenging non-conference schedule with four tournaments on the road totaling 21 games. The Islanders will start the season in San Marcos, Texas, in the three-day CenturyLink Classic on Feb. 7 through Feb. 9. The Islanders will compete against the likes of Southland foe Stephen F. Austin, Ball State, Southern Illinois and host Texas State.
