Top Performance #5: Greta Cecchetti Scores Big Against SFA

Top Performance #5: Greta Cecchetti Scores Big Against SFA

In a doubleheader showdown between Stephen F. Austin and Texas A&M- Corpus Christi, Islanders hurler Greta Cecchetti held nothing back as she pitched her biggest performance of the season in the circle. 

The first game against the Ladyjacks, the Bollate, Italy native allowed a career best just one hit while walking two and striking out a career-high 11 out of 24 batters.

The senior did not allow a base runner past second and limited the Ladyjacks to just three base runners.

The following day, the senior pitched her second consecutive one-hit game in 4.2 innings against SFA and improved to a perfect 8-0 in conference play.

In 4.2 innings, Cecchetti retired 14 of the 15 batters she faced, with seven of them being strikeouts. In the two games combined against SFA, she struck out 18 Ladyjacks in 11.2 innings of work. For the week Cecchetti totaled 25 strikeouts in 17.2 innings.
