Ciao from Canada 7/16: Greta Cecchetti Blogs Her Journey With Team Italy

Ciao Islanders!!!

Just a quick update from beautiful Whitehorse, Yukon, after our first two games. We got here on Wednesday night after a very long flight. We came from warm weather where the temperature at home was around 97 degrees to here where it's 41 degrees, so it has been kind of hard to adjust.

On Friday we played against Great Britain and we got our first win with the score of 4-0. It was a really exciting game, especially because it was the first one. Our pitcher did an awesome job for us allowing just one hit! Right after the game we  attended the opening ceremony! It was really exciting to see all the 16 teams together on the same field and also to have the chance to meet some of the best softball players in the world!!

Early on Saturday we faced Australia and lost with a score of 11-1. We had a really bad start in the first inning and allowed seven runs, but we improved during the rest of the game so that was a good sign going into Sunday's game against Chinese Taipei.

Saturday in the afternoon we had some free time to hang out around Whitehorse. People here are very friendly and the surrounding area is really beautiful! I hope we will find some time later to go on a bear-watching tour!

It's time to rest and get ready for our next game, but I will write to you very soon!!

Thanks for your support!! Ciao!!
