Islanders Softball Wraps Up Summer Camps
CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi softball team hosted two successful camps this week at Chapman Field. On Tuesday, Islanders pitching coach Sarah Pauly led campers of all ages through a three-hour pitching session. The pitching camp was designed to help pitchers understand and learn the mental and technical fundamentals of pitching. Pauly provided individual instruction and tips on becoming a better pitcher.
"Overall, it was a very successful year for camp and next year we are hoping to make improvements to get a little more campers out there," Assistant Coach Briana Bishop said.
The Islanders followed the pitching camp with a day of high school exposure camp for 2013-2016 graduates. The camp was held on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and was scheduled for Thursday, as well, but due to rain in the area was canceled. The camp provided the opportunity for campers to showcase their hitting, fielding and base running skills. The camp also allowed each camper to experience hitting and fielding drills that are used during a collegiate practice.
During the slight rain delay on Wednesday, a question and answer section was provided to educate the campers on the recruiting process and student-athlete experience.
