Hello Islander fans!
I hope you all have been enjoying this warm weather! It has been great at practice, especially with the nice breeze! Well, since we chatted last, we have played UT Arlington and Central Arkansas. We had hoped to break the splitting vs. UTA, but we came up a little short in the second game. I do have good news, though, last weekend in Central Arkansas we finally took two games and won a series! It was a challenge, especially being down in both games, but we were able to pull through!
We have had a full week of practice and are ready to suit up against Southeastern Louisiana. They are coming off their first win in conference vs. McNeese State, who happens to be first at the moment, so we cannot underestimate their play! We must come out from pitch one. It is only a seven inning game, so we must be sharp.
It is such a change for us, who have been in the league, to go from a three-game series to a two-game series. We must go all out for seven innings, but then there is time to regroup and get ready for the next day where we will play just one more seven inning game. I am not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but it is for sure different! I feel that each game counts more!
Today will start our second half of conference play. Finishing up the first half, we are 6-4. Going into the last stretch we must stay focused. This past month has been a bit of a grind due to all the traveling. It seemed like there were no weekends we played at home, Louisiana twice, Dallas, and Arkansas...lookout!
I know we all are looking forward to the month of April and playing on our field! Come out to the field today for a 2:00 p.m. game time and Saturday we play at noon!
See you there and thanks for keeping up!
