Meet Your Islanders: Softball's Karissa Haleman
Newcomer Karissa Haleman is a freshman on the Texas A&M - Corpus Christi softball team. She currently holds a .500 batting average in four games with the Islanders. Through her high school career she led her team to three District Championships and registered 21 doubles with a .549 batting average. As a junior in high school Haleman was named First Team All-Conference and First Team All-State.
Q: What do you want to do when you graduate?
A: I want to be a Speech Pathologist and work with little kids.
Q: Do you have any game superstitions or rituals?
A: I put my right cleat on before left. When I'm on third base and I take ground balls, I don't step on the line. When I'm up to bat I have to draw a line above home plate and I look at my bat before I hit.
Q: What do you like the most about your coach?
A: How energetic, loud and excited she gets. It's very positive to be around.
Q: What is your most memorable game?
A: In one of my high school games I was able to battle through one of my at-bats that really helped turn the game around.
Q: Do you have any personal goals this season?
A: To try and hit above .300 for my batting average and play hard for my team.
Q: How would your teammates describe you?
A: Very interesting

A: Derek Jeter
Q: What are your hobbies outside of softball?
A: I enjoy shopping and hanging out with my family and friends.
Q: What is something most people may not know about you?
A: I like to sing in the shower sometimes.
Q: What is the best thing about playing for Texas A&M - Corpus Christi?
A: We are a family and we get along.
Q: If you could take a vacation anywhere, where would you go?
A: Hawaii
