The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will complete the 2010 home schedule this weekend when they play host to the UT Arlington Mavericks. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 PM and a single game on Sunday starting at 11 AM.

The Saturday games will be sponsored by CenturyLink and the first 300 fans at the game will receive a free drawstring backpack. The Sunday game will be the designated senior day for players Morgan Seals, Addie Tallman and Margo Hurdt. The three will be honored before the game for their contributions to the Islander program.

A&M-Corpus Christi comes into the weekend with the most overall wins of any team in the Southland Conference and an 11-13 record in league play. In the Islanders last league series, they took 2-of-3 from McNeese State on the road to keep in contention for the Southland Conference Tournament. The team must win their six remaining games and get some help if they are to make their first ever appearance in the league tournament.

The Mavericks were flying high with just seven Southland losses before being swept by McNeese State last weekend at home. The series sweep moved them to 25-20 overall and 15-10 in league play.

Hannah Schwarz leads the Islanders and is tied for first in the Southland with a .405 batting average while also leading the team with 18 stolen bases this year. Brittany Tucker leads the team with 31 RBI while six other Islanders, Lauren Dodson (28), Margo Hurdt (28), Caley Jeter (26), Kacie Smith (21)Cassie Redman (21) and Schwarz (20) have at least 20 on the season. In the circle, Elena Crabtree leads the team in wins with 14 while Addie Tallman continues to perform well late in the season. Tallman leads the team with a 3.37 ERA and has won her last four decisions. She is 12-6 overall this season.

The Mavericks top players are Rebecca Collom and Samantha Chumchal at the plate while Cara Hulme and Teri Lyles lead the team in the circle. Collom leads the team with a .321 batting average and is second in the lineup with 25 RBI. Chumchal is batting .252 and leads the team with 26 RBI. She also recently became the career leader in home runs for the Mavericks. Lyles holds a 1.56 ERA on the season and is 12-11 overall while Hulme has a 13-9 record to go along with a 2.75 ERA.
