The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will get the weekend off from Southland Conference play but will still be in action on Saturday when they play Houston Baptist. The Islanders and Huskies are set for a 2 PM start with a second game to follow.

The Islanders sit at 29-18 overall and look to surpass the 30-win mark for just the fourth time in school history. They have the weekend off from Southland Conference play and will play just a doubleheader against the Huskies. HBU is 15-25 overall on the year and have fallen victim to the Islanders by a 6-2 score on Feb. 25 at Chapman Field.

Hannah Schwarz leads the team with a .397 batting average in 141 at bats this season. Cassie Redman is hitting .370 and Caley Jeter is close behind at .366 on the year. Brittany Tucker leads the team in RBI with 30 on the year. Margo Hurdt is one behind at 29 while Lauren Dodson has made a recent surge to move into third with 27 on the season.

Addie Tallman has come on strong in the past few weeks, taking both victories against McNeese State last weekend in Lake Charles and going 3-0 on the week. She is now 11-6 on the year while Elena Crabtree continues to lead the team in wins with a 14-10 record.

The Huskies Mollye Mlcak comes into the weekend with a .331 average and 19 RBI, both tops on the team. She is also a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts.

Jammie Weidert leads HBU with a 6-6 pitching record this year. Beth Evans leads the team with a 2.26 ERA.

After the break from league play this weekend, the Islanders will play host to UT Arlington on May 1-2 at Chapman Field. The Saturday doubleheader will start at 1 PM while the single game on Sunday will begin at 11 AM.
