Lake Charles, La. - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team took the third game of their series against McNeese State with a 2-1 victory at Cowgirl Diamond. The Islanders won the series by a 2-1 margin after taking game two by an 11-2 score yesterday.

The Islanders improve to 29-18 overall and 11-13 in the Southland Conference. The Cowgirls fall to 24-23 on the year and 10-11 in league play. Addie Tallman picked up her second win in as many days to improve to 11-6 on the year, pitching seven inning and giving up just five hits and one unearned run while walking one.

The Islanders scored first once again with two runs in the top of the fourth inning as the Islanders loaded the bases with singles by Caley Jeter and Margo Hurdt and a walk to Brittany Tucker. Lauren Dodson hit a single just past the infield dirt to score Jeter from third and keep the bases loaded. Meagan McKinney singled through the left side to score Hurdt from third and give Texas A&M-Corpus Christi a 2-0 advantage.

The Cowgirls cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom half of the fourth with an unearned run by Liz Morvant.

Offensively, the Islanders had five different players pick up hits. Jeter, Hurdt, Tucker Dodson and McKinney each had one as four of the five hits came in the decisive fourth inning.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has a break from conference action next weekend when they play the Houston Baptist Huskies in a Saturday doubleheader. They will return to Southland play the following weekend with a home series against UT Arlington. It will be the final home games of the season for the Islanders as they close out the year with a series at Southeastern Louisiana.
