The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will look to get back on track in the Southland Conference race this weekend when they play host to the Sam Houston State Bearkats in a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday. The doubleheader on Saturday begins at 1 PM while the single game on Sunday is set for an 11 AM start.

TAMUCC comes into the weekend with a 25-14 record overall and a 9-9 Southland mark. SHSU is 12-22 on the season and 4-11 in league play.

The Islanders come into the game following a pair of wins over Prairie View A&M this past Wednesday. They took game one by a 4-0 final before breaking out in the second game, scoring 17 runs in just five innings to win the five-inning game by a 17-0 final over the Panthers.

Hannah Schwarz leads the team with an even .400 batting average with Cassie Redman following closely behind at .394 while Caley Jeter is third with a .369 average. The trio is second, third and fourth, respectively, in the Southland Conference for batting average. Brittany Tucker leads the team with 28 RBI while Jeter is second with 24 on the year.

Elena Crabtree leads the Islanders in the circle with a 13-7 record and four saves to lead the league in both categories. Addie Tallman has come on strong recently to win 3-of-4 starts and improve to 8-5 on the year.

The Bearkats are led offensively by Hailey Wiginton with a .346 average while Amy Brown and Morgan Mikulin are tied for the team lead with 16 RBI apiece. Mikulin also leads the team in pitching with an 8-15 record on the season.
