For the second week in-a-row, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is home to the Southland Conference's Hitter of the Week after Brittany Tucker was named the winner of the weekly honor on Monday afternoon. Tucker follows Landry Moore last week to make it two-straight awards for TAMUCC.
Tucker led her team to another 5-0 weekend as the Islanders won the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach Invitational. She hit .500 for the week with five RBI, four walks and two doubles. Tucker is ranked third in the Southland with 13 RBI on the season and tied for third in home runs with three.
She also allowed just one stolen base while throwing out the other five runners making an attempt. She has allowed just five stolen bases in 13 attempts while throwing out eight this season and is first in the Southland in throwing out runners.
The Islanders start Southland play tonight on the road at San Antonio as they look to continue the recent hot streak they have been on.
