The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team continued their roll, finishing the pre-conference schedule up with another victory over UL Monroe. The Islanders beat the Warhawks with timely, two-out hitting to win a 4-2 final on Sunday afternoon.

The Islanders move to 12-3 on the season with the last 11 coming in-a-row. They also finish the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach Invitational with a perfect 5-0 record. Elena Crabtree started for TAMUCC and picked up the win to move to 7-0 the season with her seventh complete game of the year. She allowed two runs, one of them earned, on six hits while walking four and striking out four in 7.0 innings of work. The Warhawks move to 6-9 on the season.

ULM opened the scoring with a single run in the top of the third inning but the Islanders quickly responded with two runs to take a 2-1 lead. Lauren Sanders doubled down the left field line and was brought home when Meagan McKinney hit a 2-1 pitch down the right field line for her third home run of the season.

TAMUCC added a run in the fourth to go up 3-1 when Lauren Dodson doubled down the line and was pinch run for by Melissa Casey. Casey was brought around to score on another double down the line, this time by Hannah Schwarz.

The Warhawks threatened the advantage by scoring a run in the top of the fifth but were not able to get closer than a 3-2 score. The Islanders added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 4-2 final. Cassie Redman started the rally with a single down the first base line and moved to third on a two-base error by the right fielder. It was Redman's first hit of the game to extend her hitting streak to 11 games. She then came home to score when the ULM catcher sailed a pick-off attempt into left field, allowing her to move up from third base.

McKinney had the biggest offensive day, going 1-for-2 with two RBI while Schwarz picked up the other RBI in the game. TAMUCC finished with 10 hits, their seventh double-digit hits game of the year.

The Islanders are finished with the pre-conference schedule and move right into the Southland Conference slate on Tuesday when they play the UTSA Roadrunners in San Antonio.
