ISLANDERS SOFTBALL POUNDS A&M-KINGSVILLE IN SWEEP
KINGSVILLE - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team traveled to Texas A&M-Kingsville for a fall double-header on Saturday as they took two from the Javelinas by 8-1 and 15-0 scores. The Islanders pounded out 38 total hits in the two games on Saturday.
"We had a good day for the first time out," said head coach Jake Schumann. "We did the three major things well; hitting, pitching and fielding the ball
Game one saw Elena Crabtree and Addie Tallman combine to allow one run with Tallman throwing three scoreless innings. The Islander offense combined for a total of 38 hits.
"We were very aggressive out there," said Schumann. "We hit anything they threw in the strike zone hard."
In the second game it was Alex Hutchinson and Morgan Seals who worked together to blank TAMUK while the offense once again provided plenty of help, totaling 20 hits and 15 runs.
"The pitchers did a great job," said Schumann. "We had a couple of errors but none that really hurt us."
A&M-Corpus Christi had nine doubles on the day in scoring 23 total runs.
"We have to get back to work to improve some things and clean some stuff," said Schumann. "Overall I think we did well."
