HANNAH SCHWARZ EARNS FIRST TEAM ALL-REGION HONORS, CALEY JETER NAMED TO SECOND TEAM
A pair of new faces to the 2010 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team were honored by the NFCA on Thursday morning when they were named to the 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Region Teams. Hannah Schwarz was named First Team All-Central Region while Caley Jeter was named to the second team. In total, six players from the Southland Conference received honors with Schwarz being the only first team member.

ISLANDERS FALL TO COWGIRLS IN OPENING GAME OF SOUTHLAND TOURNAMENT
San Marcos - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team could never quite get the offense going on Thursday morning as they lost a 6-0 game to the McNeese State Cowgirls in the opening game of the Southland Conference Tournament. The loss sends the Islanders to a 1:30 PM game against an undetermined opponent on Friday afternoon.

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will play its first-ever game in the Southland Conference Tournament on Thursday against the McNeese State Cowgirls. Game time is set for 11 AM at Bobcat Field on the campus of Texas State.

ISLANDER DUO NAMED SOUTHLAND HITTER AND PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Brittany Tucker and Elena Crabtree were named the Southland Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon after a vote by the league Sports Information Directors. The pair of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball players helped lead their team to its first ever appearance in the Southland Conference Tournament starting this Thursday.

TUCKER POWERS ISLANDERS TO SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT WITH 8-7 WIN
Hammond, La. - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team was down to the final two outs of the season when Brittany Tucker hit a three-run home run over the right field wall to tie the game at 7-7 in the top of the seventh inning. The Islanders would eventually go on to win the game in the ninth when Tucker hit a solo home run, her 11th of the season, to give A&M-Corpus Christi an 8-7 victory over Southeastern Louisiana and send her team to the Southland Conference Tournament for the first time in school history. The 11th home run of the season also set a new single-season record for the Islanders with the previous record being 10, set by Jennifer Golden in 2005.

ISLANDERS RALLY EARLY, DOMINATE LATE IN DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST LADY LIONS
Hammond, La. - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team had a flair for the dramatic during the first game of the day against Southeastern Louisiana as they won a 4-3 game in eight innings. In game two they dominated the Lady Lions by a 13-5 score in six innings to put themselves into position to qualify for the Southland Conference Tournament.

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will be making the long trek from Corpus Christi to Hammond, La. this weekend for its final series of the year against the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 3 PM with a single game to follow at 12 PM on Sunday afternoon.

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team got another big performance from Margo Hurdt on senior day. For the second day #$%^in-a-row, Caley Jeter had a big day and Hurdt notched the game-winning hit and the win in the circle to give the Islanders a 4-3 #$%^win over Southland opponent UT Arlington at Chapman Field.

HURDT'S TWO-RUN BLAST GIVES ISLANDERS 6-4 WIN OVER UT ARLINGTON
In her final home series of her Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball career, Margo Hurdt came up big for the Islanders in the #$%^second game of the doubleheader against UT Arlington, belting a two-run home run to straight-away centerfield to give her #$%^team a 6-4 win. The Islanders split the doubleheader after losing game one to the Mavericks by a 5-3 score.

Austin - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team (20-11) had a short memory on Thursday evening at Texas (24-8). After losing 13-4 in game one, the Islanders won game two 8-4. Brittany Tucker was the hero in the second game, going 2-for-4 with a homerun and four RBI while Addie Tallman scattered two runs on seven hits for the win.

San Marcos - After losing the first game on Sunday at Texas State (13-13, 9-3) the Islanders (19-10, 6-6) responded with a second game win. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi dropped the first game 7-6 and then won game two 11-7.

San Marcos - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team just missed on an opportunity to upset the defending Southland Conference Champions and league-leading Texas State Bobcats with a 4-3 road loss on Saturday evening. It was the first of a three-game series between the two teams.

San Antonio - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team saw its winning streak snapped in the first game of the day against UTSA and got back on the winning track in the nightcap on the first day of Southland Conference action. The Islanders lost 12-2 in five innings against the Roadrunners and got back into the win column with a 6-3 win in the second game of the night.

The Texas &M-Corpus Christi softball team will hit the road for the first time since the season-opening Paradise Classic in Hawaii when they travel to San Antonio to take on the UTSA Roadrunners. The Islanders and Roadrunners play twice on Tuesday starting at 5 PM and then a single game starting at 1 PM on Wednesday.

For the second week in-a-row, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is home to the Southland Conference's Hitter of the Week after Brittany Tucker was named the winner of the weekly honor on Monday afternoon. Tucker follows Landry Moore last week to make it two-straight awards for TAMUCC.

The Islanders beat the North Dakota Fightin' Sioux by a 9-3 final on the third day of the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach Invitational.

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team started the day off with an 11-5 win over North Dakota and finished it up with a dramatic, come from behind 7-6 win over Louisiana-Monroe on the second day of the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach Invitational. The Islanders had to overcome a deficit in both games to extend their winning streak to nine games, dating back to the final game of the Paradise Classic in Hawaii.

LANDRY MOORE NAMED SOUTHLAND SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK
Landry Moore used a fourth inning explosion in the finale of the Islander Classic to power her way to the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week award. Moore, a junior catcher from Houston, hit .750 on the week with six RBI and two home runs to take her first-ever weekly honor.

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team resumed play Saturday at the Islander Classic following the rain out that halted play on Friday. The Islanders won twice defeating Boston College 3-1 to win their second game against an ACC opponent in as many games and taking down Southern 11-0 in five innings on Saturday.

Thursday will feature the Islanders in games against Centenary at 12 PM and finish the first day with a 2 PM game against Boston College. In addition to those teams, Southern (La.) is also in the tournament.

Honolulu, Hawai'i - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team run-ruled the McNeese State Cowgirls in the late game after playing a close game against the No. 10 Stanford Cardinal on the final day of the Paradise Classic. The Islanders beat McNeese for the second time in as many days, winning 10-2 in five innings, while losing a 5-2 decision to the Cardinal in the second game the two teams have played against each other in the tournament.

TWO ISLANDERS NAMED TO SOUTHLAND TEAMS, PRESEASON POLLS RELEASED
With the softball season right around the corner, the Southland Conference released its preseason All-Conference teams and polls on Monday afternoon. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi placed two representatives on the second team while the Islanders were picked seventh in the coaches poll and ninth in the sports information directors poll.

ISLANDER SOFTBALL ADDS CHAMPIONSHIP EXPERIENCE
The ultimate goal for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball coach Jake Schumann is to take his team to the Division I Women's College World Series and win a national championship. That is the goal of all DI programs throughout the nation, nearly 300 in all, to compete for and take home a national title.

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will face four teams that competed in the NCAA tournament last year to highlight a tough 2010 schedule. The Islanders will open the season against Stanford, the No. 8 national seed from a year ago, in the Hawaii Paradise Classic.

ISLANDER SOFTBALL SIGNS TRIO OF PLAYERS ON FIRST DAY
Islander softball head coach Jake Schumann announced the addition of three players for the 2010 class on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period. Coming in for the Islanders are two high school players and one junior college transfer that continue to raise the level of recruiting for the TAMUCC program.

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball ended their fall season with two impressive wins over Texas A&M-International winning 13-0 and 12-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Islander pitching and defense did the job with two shutouts and committing one error.

Five members of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team have been named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American Scholar Athletes. The honor is awarded by the NFCA in conjunction with apparel company 'girls got game' and recognizes student-athletes who maintain a 3.5 GPA during the entire academic year.

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball program split a pair of games against St. Mary's University on Saturday afternoon before playing an alumni game versus former players. The win puts the Islanders record at 3-1 so far in the fall season.

KINGSVILLE - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team traveled to Texas A&M-Kingsville for a fall double-header on Saturday as they took two from the Javelians by 8-1 and 15-0 scores. The Islanders pounded out 38 total hits in the two games on Saturday.

Former Islander softball great Sarah Pauly recently competed in the National Pro Fastpitch Championship Finals from August 22-23. Pauly pitched for the USSSA Pride against the Rockford Thunder as the Pride fell 2-1 in the best-of-three series.

Teresa Flores made a significant impact on the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball program in just one year on the coaching staff. Recognizing her abilities in that year, Islander head coach Jake Schumann has moved Flores up to the top assistant position on the Islander softball coaching staff.

MARTIN, SIMANCAS NAMED TO SOUTHLAND ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
Islander softball players Larissa Martin and Andrea Simancas were named to the Southland Conference All-Academic First Team on Monday afternoon. The award is the first for Martin and the second for Simancas, who were both seniors at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi this past season.

ISLANDER SOFTBALL WORKS YES CLINIC AT COLLEGE WORLD SERIES
Oklahoma City, Okla. ? The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball program sent head coach Jake Schumann, designated player Margo Hurdt and pitcher Addie Tallman to the Women's College World Series recently. The players and coach were there to participate in the annual Youth Education through Sports (YES) Clinics hosted by the NCAA during the opening weekend of the Women's College World Series.
