ISLANDER SOFTBALL RETURNS HOME TO FACE STEPHEN F. AUSTIN

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will return home after a week on the road in Louisiana to face off against Stephen F. Austin in a Southland Conference weekend series. The two teams will play a doubleheader starting at 1 PM on Saturday and conclude with a 1 PM start on Sunday.

The Islanders come into the game with a record of 11-22 after the seven game road trip, with a 2-9 record in SLC games. The Lady Jacks hold a 15-14 record overall and are 7-2 in SLC games.

Over the past week, the Islanders played seven games on the road in Louisiana, winning the first three games and taking the loss in the final four. On Sunday, they played and beat the Northwestern Lady Demons by scores of 8-4 and 7-0. On Tuesday, the Islanders split with Louisiana Tech, winning the first game 5-1 and falling by a 9-8 score in the second game. On Wednesday, TAMUCC fell in a pair of games against Louisiana-Monroe by 6-1 and 7-6 finals. In the final game of the trip, Centenary knocked off the Islanders by a 6-5 final.

Stephen F. Austin last played against McNeese State, sweeping the Cowgirls without allowing a run the entire series last weekend.

Alaina Byars comes into the weekend on a hot streak, having hit four homeruns the past week while collecting 11 RBI. Overall, Cassie Redman leads the team in hitting with a .304 average on the season. Addie Tallman leads the Islanders with a 2.76 ERA and a 8-8 record on the season.
