The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will continue their week-long road trip with a pair of games against Louisiana Tech in Ruston, La. on Tuesday afternoon. The Islanders are fresh off a strong showing against the Northwestern State Demons on Sunday to record their first two Southland Conference wins of the season.

The Islanders come into the game with a record of 10-18 overall on the year. The Lady Techsters are 12-11 on the season and are playing their first home games in a month when they play host to TAMUCC.

The Islanders have struggled of late but have shown signs of turning it around with their 8-4 and 7-0 wins over the Demons this past weekend. The rest of the schedule this week consists of non-conference games, two against LaTech, two against Louisiana-Monroe on Wednesday and one game in Shreveport, La. against Centenary on Thursday. Afterwards, the Islanders return home to play host to Stephen F. Austin in an SLC series at Chapman Field.

Alaina Byars and Addie Tallman had big games for the Islanders, with Byars hitting three homeruns in the double header while collecting three RBI. Tallman started off rough, giving up four runs in the first two innings of game 1 but turned it around to throw 12 shutout innings in-a-row, allowing only two hits in the final five innings of game 1 and throwing a no-hitter in game 2. Tallman struck out seven batters in game one while walking just one. Game 2 saw her walk two and strikeout two.

Byars moved into a tie with Margo Hurdt for the team lead in RBIs with 12 on the season. She is third in batting average with a .267 mark. Andrea Simancas owns the team lead with a .288 average while also collecting nine RBI. Tallman now has a 7-6 win-loss record on the season. She is sitting at a 2.56 ERA on the season in 95.2 innings pitched.
