The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will open Southland Conference play as they host the UTSA Roadrunners in a three-game series, starting with a double header on Tuesday afternoon at Chapman Field. Game times are set for 1 PM and 3 PM on Tuesday and 1 PM on Wednesday.
The Islanders are now 7-8 on the season while the Roadrunners come into the game with a 5-7 record.
The Islanders come into the game off of a 2-2 split as the host of the Islander Invitational this past weekend. TAMUCC beat Loyola-Chicago by a 5-1 score on Friday night and Dayton by an 8-0 score in six innings on Saturday afternoon. The Islanders lost to Minnesota by a 5-1 score on Friday afternoon and to Pittsburgh by a 7-0 score on Saturday night.
Larissa Martin leads the Islanders with a .382 batting average with one triple, eight RBI and seven walks while striking out only once in the first three weeks of the season. The Islanders are hitting .229 as a team and have outscored their opponents by a total of 53-51 overall on the year.
Addie Tallman leads an Islander pitching staff that boasts a 2.45 ERA on the season. Tallman has a personal ERA of 1.74 and a 4-3 record. She has pitched 44.1 innings, giving up 22 runs, 11 of them earned, on 37 hits while walking 20 and striking out 18. Stacie Tassin has the other three Islander wins this season, sporting a 3-5 record and a 3.43 ERA, giving up 28 runs with 24 of them earned in 49 innings. She has struck out 19 while walking 24.
