The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team completed its fall schedule this past weekend with a scrimmage against the Texas A&M-International Dustdevils.
Against the Dustdevils, the Islanders once again had a strong offensive performance, pounding out more than 20 hits while getting good pitching performances in the contest.
"With the Southland Conference being strong in pitching, I am encouraged with our offensive output." said Coach Schumann. "Our 1-10 hitters have been really strong as we get ready to go into the spring."
With a powerful offense already on board, the pitching staff for the Islanders has started to come around. The matchup against the Dustdevils marked the fifth consecutive quality performance turned in by the Islander pitching staff.
"This was a good test for us at the end of the year." said Head Coach Jake Schumann. "I was impressed with the way the kids performed."
After playing out the fall schedule, the Islander softball team now focuses on individual workouts for the rest of the semester. Once school resumes on January 14, practice will begin with an eye towards the regular season.
The first game of the season for the Islanders is on February 6 in Miami, Florida at a tournament hosted by Florida International.
