SIMANCAS NAMED TO SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE 2008 CAPITAL ONE ALL-ACADEMIC SOFTBALL TEAM
Andrea Simancas, a three-year starter for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team was named to the Southland Conference Capital One All-Academic First Team after posting a 3.848 grade point average.
Simancas, a history major from Pasadena, Texas, hit a career-high .265 and was second on the team with seven stolen bases in 50 games this season. The junior also saw action in the circle, pitching 22.2 innings where she struck out two and walked a pair of batters. She finished 0-3 with a 6.679 earned run average.
She started 45 games in the outfield and had 11 multi-hit games, which was third highest on the team. Simancas went 3-for-4 against UTSA, tying a career-high for hits in a game.
