The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Men's Tennis team will find out its NCAA Championships fate on Tuesday afternoon, and the team is inviting fans, friends and family to come out for the announcement at 4 p.m. CT in the commons area of the University Center on campus. The show starts promptly at 4 p.m., so those attending are encouraged to arrive at the UC by 3:45 p.m.
After finishing the regular season as Southland Conference Champions, the team earned the automatic berth into the national tournament with a 4-2 win over New Orleans on Sunday to win the SLC Tournament.
The brackets will be revealed on www.NCAA.com, with the teams finding out their seeding and destinations for the first and second rounds of the event between 4-4:30 p.m.
After starting just 1-5 on the year, the men's team has gone 16-2 since to clinch their sixth straight regular season Southland Conference Championship, while also earning their fourth tournament title and NCAA bid in the past six seasons.
The individual singles and doubles brackets for the tournament will be announced Wed., May 1. Peter Nagy, the Islanders No. 1 player and No. 97 ranked singles player in the NCAA, will be looking to secure a bid into the individual tournament that is scheduled to start just days after the completion of the team bracket at the same championship site in Urbana, Ill.
