Men’s Tennis Set For Important Match Against UNO

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Men's Tennis team will play an important match on Wednesday afternoon, with the outcome against New Orleans having great significance in deciding the 2013 Southland Conference Champion.

Due to a scheduling quirk, it will be the first conference match for the Islanders (9-7, 0-0 Southland), while also being the last for the Privateers (7-6, 4-0 Southland). Due to their undefeated run through league play to this point, UNO would clinch the Southland Conference Championship with a win on Wednesday.

Texas A&M – Corpus Christi has a title to defend however, and the Islanders will do everything in their power to make sure the 2013 championship comes back to the Coastal Bend. Doing so will mean taking a tough match against a good opponent on a neutral court, with the two teams playing at 1 p.m. in San Antonio.

The Islanders started off the year slow but have come on strong lately, competing with some of the best in the country and winning the prestigious 47th Annual HEB Tournament of Champions near the start of the month.

It is now time for the team to step into conference play and work towards one of the main goals every season, winning the league title. After the match against UNO on Wednesday, the men travel to Dallas for an Easter Sunday match against Oral Roberts at the Seay Tennis Center. The two teams will play at 2 p.m. in another neutral site matchup for Texas A&M – Corpus Christi.
