Nagy became the first Islander to take part in the men’s singles draw in program history.

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Men’s Tennis program has done a lot since its inception in 1998, reaching the NCAA Championships several times, being ranked in the top 35 of the ITA National Rankings and winning five consecutive Southland Conference Championships, but it had never won “The HEB” held every year in Corpus Christi. That changed on Saturday.

Men’s Tennis Set For Play at Rice Invitational
The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Men’s Tennis team will have players participating in the Rice Invitational this weekend, with play starting on Friday at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium in Houston. The tourney will feature several teams that were ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Top 75 a year ago.

Nagy, Jordao Lead Islanders on Opening Day of Rice Invitational
HOUSTON – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Men’s Tennis team had players back in action on Friday, with Peter Nagy and Pietro Jordao picking up singles wins in the Rice Invitational. Nagy also teamed with Odon Barta, while Jordao played alongside Javier Pujol to pick up doubles victories in the tournament being held at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium on the Rice campus.

Peter Nagy Reaches Finals of Rice Galleria Fall Invitational
HOUSTON – In the second day of the Rice Galleria Fall Invitational that featured numerous rain delays, Peter Nagy came through with another huge victory for the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s tennis team on Saturday night. Nagy beat Idan Mark of Tulane by a 6-3, 6-3 final to reach the finals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association-sanctioned event hosted by the Rice Owls.

2012 Marco & Co. Catering Islander Open Kicks Off Fall Tennis Season This Weekend
The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s and women’s tennis teams will see their first live action against opponents on Friday when the 2012 Marco & Co. Catering Islanders Open gets underway at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center. Matches start at 4 p.m. on Friday and will run all day on Saturday before the final rounds at noon on Sunday. Some of the men’s first round matches will also be held at the Corpus Christi Athletic Club on Friday at 4 p.m. due to the number of competitors.

The tournament was moved indoors because of rain early in the day at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
