The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Tennis Teams will be in action this weekend at the annual USTA/ITA Texas Regionals held at Texas A&M and TCU. The events are individual tournaments with bracket play featuring some of the best players in the state from Friday to Tuesday, Oct. 21-25 on the two campuses.
The men's team will travel to College Station to take part in the regional hosted by the Texas A&M Aggies. In addition to the host school, Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas will represent the Big 12, along with UT Arlington, Lamar and UTSA from the Southland Conference.
Aurelien Tave, the winner of the ITA-sanctioned Islanders Open last month, will be in action along with Matt Westmoreland, Nathan Robinson, Andrew Maingot and Pietro Jordao from the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi roster.
The women's regional at the TCU Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center will feature individuals from teams throughout Texas, including Big 12 members Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Texas and Baylor, as well as Southland members Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, UT Arlington, UTSA and Texas State.
Players participating from the women's team will be captain Mirna Cicak, Sandra Burges, Chelsea Horan, LeAnne Mascall, Mia Matuszak and Stefania Nicolae. Each player will be competing in both singles and doubles draws at the ITA Regionals.
