The No. 75 Texas A&M - Corpus Christi men's tennis team will play its second Southland Conference match of the week on Thursday when it hosts the Lamar Cardinals with an 11 a.m. start time at the Corpus Christi Country Club. Earlier in the week the Islanders defeated the UT Arlington Mavericks by a 5-2 margin to improve to 2-0 in league play.
The team is now 10-9 on the year and 2-0 in SLC play while Lamar stands at 7-8 overall and 1-1 in the Southland. Both teams won league matches last time out, with Texas A&M - Corpus Christi taking a 5-2 final over UTA and Lamar winning 4-3 against Texas - Pan American.
Seniors Laurent Montoisy and James Langford led their team to the win over the Mavericks. Montoisy played perhaps the best round of singles tennis he has all spring while Langford gutted out a tough three-set affair to help secure the victory. Aurelien Tave and Robert Raguz also played well, with both taking identical 6-4, 6-4 match at their singles positions.
With the win over UTA, The Islanders have now won 22-of-23 regular-season Southland Conference and conference tournament matches over a period of four years.
They will try to continue the run on Thursday morning at the Corpus Christi Country Club. The match is set for an 11 a.m. start time and admission is free to the public.
