The No. 61 Texas A&M - Corpus Christi men's tennis team will put its five-match winning streak on the line Tuesday when they travel to Austin to take on the No. 4-ranked Texas Longhorns in a non-conference match ahead of this weekend's 45th Annual HEB Tournament of Champions.
The Islanders are 6-4 on the season after winning its last five matches, including starting 1-0 in Southland Conference play. The Longhorns are 10-1 on the year with five players ranked in the national singles rankings and four teams in the ITA doubles rankings. The only loss of the year came against No. 3 Ohio State in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
The two teams will have a 6 p.m. start at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center on the Texas campus.
After the match on Tuesday, Texas A&M - Corpus Christi will prepare to face more tough competition this Friday and Saturday at the HEB Tournament of Champions.
In addition to the Islanders, teams participating in the tournament will be No. 60 New Mexico, No. 63 Maryland, No. 64 DePaul, Purdue, BYU, Middle Tennessee and Western Michigan.
Match times are set for 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday. Saturday's matches will start at 9 a.m. with the Championship Finals beginning at 12 p.m. at the HEB Tennis Center.
