The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi men's tennis team has returned to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) national rankings after last appearing in the rankings during March of last year. Previous to the absence, the Islanders had been ranked every week for four-straight years by the ITA, reaching a high-ranking of No. 35 nationally.
When the rankings were released on Thursday afternoon, the team found itself ranked No. 66 by the ITA. Coming off of a win over then-No. 49 TCU, the Islanders are back and at the beginning of what Director of Tennis Steve Moore hopes is their rise through the rankings.
"We're pleased to be back in the rankings," said Moore. "But we want to move a lot higher so we have a lot of hard work ahead of us.
"We just have to take care of the things we can control and show up with the right mental attitude to do it."
Texas A&M - Corpus Christi will play its first match this season as a ranked team on February 13 when they host Louisiana-Lafayette in a 1 p.m. match at the Corpus Christi Country Club.
