Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Laurent Montoisy has been named to Southland Conference men's tennis Player of the Week. Montoisy, a sophomore from Lasne, Belgium, played the No. 3 singles position for the Islanders, going 3-0, as well as teaming up with Jose Zunino at No. 2 doubles to go 2-0 and stay undefeated this week.

Montoisy beat representatives from Lamar, Southeastern La. and Nicholls to help the Islanders complete their second-straight undefeated season in SLC play. At No. 3 singles, Montoisy won 6-4, 6-0 over Lamar, 6-1, 6-2 over Southeastern La. and 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 over Nicholls State in the final match of the season. In the No. 2 doubles position, Montoisy teamed up with Jose Zunino to win 8-6 over Southeasern La. and 8-2 over Nicholls State.

It is the second time Montoisy has been named SLC Player of Week, having previously won the award in the second week of the season on January 27. It is the fourth overall award for the Islanders, as Jaume Farras was honored on February 17 and Mikhail Pavlov won the award on April 7.

The Islanders now prepare for the upcoming SLC Tournament, which they will be hosting at the HEB Tennis Center. The Islander men play their first match on Saturday at 9:30 AM and all fans are encouraged to come out and cheer on the Islander team. Ticket prices are $10 per day or a total of $15 dollars for a tournament pass, which will be good for all three days.
