The #50 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis team will travel to Austin to take on the #13 Texas Longhorns in non-conference action on Thursday evening.
The Islanders come into the match with a season record of 9-7 while the Longhorns are 15-4 on the year. The last time the two teams met, the Longhorns took a 4-0 decision over the Islanders in the first round of the NCAA Championships in Austin during May of 2008.
TAMUCC comes into the match fresh off an undefeated week against SLC competition, winning 6-1 decisions against UT Arlington and UTSA.
The Islanders will be led into the match by No. 1 singles and doubles player Mikhail Pavlov, who was named the Southland Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday. Pavlov went undefeated in No. 1 singles against SLC opponents UT Arlington and UTSA last week while teaming with Dmitry Novikov to go 2-0 in No. 1 doubles as well.
Pavlov became the third Islander to win the award this year, as Laurent Montoisy won it for the week of January 27 and Jaume Farras won it on February 17.
