The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis team will play host to UT Arlington on Wednesday afternoon in a Southland Conference matchup between the in-state rivals. Match time is set for 2:00 PM at the Corpus Christi Country Club.

The Islanders come into the match fresh off two big non-conference wins, playing DePaul at a neutral site in San Antonio and winning by a 4-2 score. On Sunday afternoon, the Islanders beat Louisiana-Lafayette in a hard-fought match, winning 4-3 in their home match.

In the Sunday match, the Islanders fell behind 1-0 after losing the doubles point, but stormed back to win 3-of-4 matches to take a 3-2 advantage after Laurent Montoisy was victorious at No. 2 singles, coming from behind to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. The deciding point came next, as Dmitry Novikov clinched the match for TAMUCC at No. 3 singles, winning in three by a 6-3, 6-7 (7-9), 7-5 final.

On the basis of the two wins this past week, the Islanders recently moved up to #42 in the nation in the ITA rankings, up five spots from the previous week. TAMUCC will look to continue improving their record and their ranking as they face UT Arlington on Wednesday, and later in the week travel to San Antonio to take on UTSA on Saturday at 2:00 PM
