WACO The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis program had a strong showing this past Friday and Saturday as they competed in the Baylor HEB Invitational.
The men traveled to Waco for arguably the toughest fall tournament in the nation and did not disappoint. The tournament featured 26 of the top 100 players in the nation and 6 players in the top 25 individual rankings.
The weekend saw the Islanders win five matches in the A draw that is comprised of the best players in the field.
Jose Zunio reached the third round while Mike Pavlov reached the quarterfinals of the bracket.
The doubles team of Dmitry Novikov and Mike Pavlov defeated the #1 team from the University of Alabama in Friday's action. Sophomore James Langford and freshman David Pace also defeated a team from TCU in doubles action.
"These types of results are directly tied to hard work." said Islander coach Steve Moore "We have to get back to work this week if we want more of these results."
