CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team will host a number of camps for all age groups throughout the month of June this summer. Camps start on June 9 and run throughout the month, held on the campus of A&M-Corpus Christi.
All Islanders basketball camps are open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender).
The Islanders will kick off the summer camp season with "Bitty Ball" – designed for children ages 5-7. The camp runs from 9-11 a.m. from Monday, June 9, through Thursday, June 12, and costs $50 for the week of activity. Kids will be introduced to basketball skills and play fun games throughout the week, in addition to receiving a T-shirt.
In the afternoons that week, the team will host its first of two Day Camps, scheduled to run from noon to 4 p.m. on June 9-12. These camps are organized for ages 7-17, and provide fundamental work for all areas of the game in addition to 5-on-5 games, drills and a complimentary basketball and T-shirt. The second session of Day Camp will be held June 23-26, and each session costs $100.
A one-day shooting camp will be held on Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Designed for ages 7-17, the camp is an intense instructional camp for all campers who are interested in improving their shooting. Campers will learn the basics of good jump, free throw, and off the dribble shooting. Cost for the camp is $50.
The Islanders will conclude their camp season with a High-Potential Camp on June 28-29. This camp is geared toward players in grades 10-12 who are looking to move on to play college basketball. The camp provides advanced skill instruction with college intensity, features competitive league games and allows campers to get feedback from college coaches on their strengths and weaknesses. The cost is $100 for a commuter camper, or $130 for those who elect to stay on campus overnight.
