CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team has signed Joe Kilgore (Houston, Texas) to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Willis Wilson announced today. Kilgore is a 6-foot-5, athletic combo guard from Dekaney High School.
"Joe is a really dynamic player with good size, and his length makes him play a little taller than he is," Wilson said. "He is a bit of a late bloomer that had an outstanding summer and really came on to the scene. We think he's a guy who will be a scorer for us from the day he sets foot on campus."
Kilgore was named to the RCS Sports All-Greater Houston Summer Ball Team for his performance with 3T Basketball Academy. He was the 20th-ranked player in the city by RCS sports. He was the top scoring option for a 3T team that finished as runner up at the Pearland Great American Shootout.
Early on in his senior season, he has carried over the momentum from his strong summer. Kilgore is averaging 19 points and seven rebounds through Dekaney's first two contests, in which the team has gone 1-1.
The Islanders are back in action on Wednesday night, when they play host to Rice at 7 p.m. at the American Bank Center. For tickets, please call 825-BALL (2255) or visit GoIslanders.com.
