Men's Basketball Hosts Faculty/Staff Appreciation Practice

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team hosted a faculty/staff appreciation practice on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Members of the team invited their professors and staff to watch them in action and see the hard work they are putting in heading into the 2013-14 season.

"We started doing this last year as a way to reach out to the people who have a big impact on our players away from the basketball court," head coach Willis Wilson said. "The players really enjoy having their professors come out to watch them in practice, and I think the professors enjoy getting to see the players outside of the classroom. It's a really enjoyable event for all involved."

The players took part in a full practice on Tuesday, with about two dozen faculty and staff on hand to watch. After practice, the players and coaches greeted their guests and took part in refreshments to end the day.

The Islanders will tip off the 2013-14 season in less than a month, as Huston-Tillotson comes to the Coastal Bend to take on A&M-Corpus Christi at the Dugan Wellness Center. Season tickets are available by calling 825-BALL (2255) or by visiting
