CORPUS CHRISTI – Tickets to Sunday's men's basketball game against Houston are now available for just $5, the department of athletics announced today. Fans can come cheer on their hometown team at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, in a game that will be televised live on Comcast Sports Net-Houston. Fans are also encouraged to show their Islanders spirit by wearing blue to the game.
"The home team wins 75 percent of the time in college basketball, and that's mostly because of the support of their home crowd," head coach Willis Wilson said. "We need the Corpus Christi community to come out and cheer us on in what's going to be a tough ballgame against Houston. Our players all love to play at home because of the great support they get from our fans, and we can't wait to see a huge crowd on Sunday against UH."
Fans can also get an even better discount if they bring canned goods to donate during the holiday season. Any Islanders supporter who brings two canned goods to the Resaca St. entrance will receive a buy one, get one free coupon for the contest. All food will be donated to Metro Ministry to assist local families throughout the holiday season.
The contest against UH will mark the second time in three years that the Cougars have visited the American Bank Center, as the Islanders knocked them off in overtime in 2010. Sunday's game should fill a void for Texas sports fans, as both the Cowboys and Texans play their games on Thanksgiving this week. For those who can't make it out to the contest, the game will be televised by CSN-Houston as well.
