CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Department of Athletics has partnered with Clear Channel Corpus Christi for its 2011-12 men's basketball broadcasts, Interim Director of Athletics Scott Lazenby announced today. The agreement will place Islanders basketball games and coaches shows on NewsRadio 1360 KKTX.
"We're very excited to be working with Clear Channel as our broadcast partner for the upcoming season," Lazenby said. "With their group of six stations in the city, Clear Channel will help us maximize our exposure to new fans as well as providing our existing supporters with a great broadcast outlet. This agreement will be a positive one for our basketball program and our athletics department."
In addition to KKTX, Clear Channel operates Oldies 93.9 (KMXR), C-101 (101.3 - KNCN), K99 (99.1 – KRYS), Tejano 99.9 (KSAB) and La Tremenda (KUNO 1400).
All 30 regular-season games and the team's exhibition against Incarnate Word (Saturday, Nov. 5) will be carried on KKTX in addition to the weekly coaches' show, which will air Monday nights from 6-7 p.m. beginning on Nov. 7.
The Islanders open their 2011-12 regular season on Friday, Nov. 11, at Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla. The following Monday will be the home opener, against Denver, in the American Bank Center. Texas A&M - Corpus Christi plays host to 12 home games this season, including non-conference matchups with Utah State, Texas Tech and South Alabama.
